FEATURE FOUNDER OMAR DAVILLA
While international sports fans are tuned into the Tokyo Olympics, a San Antonio b-boy has his attention turned to 2024 games in Paris.
Last December, break dancing was announced as an official sport for the 2024 summer games under "breaking." Omar "B-Boy Omar" Davila, a San Antonio resident and breaking vet with more than 20 years of experience, hopes to be part of building the inaugural team.
Davila started breaking when he was 12 years old. He found community at the Montopolis Recreation Center in Austin and an outlet for expression through throw downs. Davila's passion for breaking built throughout his teenage years, giving him the opportunity to compete in international contests and eventually winning the first-ever Red Bull BC One World Champion. He was just 18.
